I’m making progress in my LHC goals, and as evidence, I can actually show you 15 years of Halloween Costumes. Yes, that means I was able to access each of these years of photos – that is huge! They were on different devices and not everything is organized, but now at least Halloween is all in one place.
One baby step at a time … and this is a pretty fun baby step, which motivates me to keep going. It was SO FUN to gather my kids around and show them each of these pictures. We went year by year, laughed and said “awww.” It is amazing to see the growth and to remember the funny stories behind the terrible and sometimes awkward pictures. (Matt and I aren’t exactly at our best in any of these.)
Let’s begin when my twins were still babies, or as Izzy says: zero years old.
2005
The twins were only a few months old here. I actually can’t believe I look as clean as I do in this picture. Maybe the blurry picture is hiding stains?
2006
Cutest little identical twin girls on the block. Remember when we used real camera and had red eyes? It has been so long, I can’t remember how to reduce them.
2007
Izzy is zero years old and the twins suddenly look so much older. You can probably tell we are BYU fans by now.
2008
In 2008, it just didn’t occur to me to try to take specific kinds of pictures at every holiday. On this day I didn’t even think to take pictures of the kids until after they’d been at Matt’s work party for hours and became completely disheveled. Look how cute baby girl is in the professional photo below the family one for comparison.
2009
This year our kids just wore dress-up clothes. I seem to cycle between years I’m into costumes and years I’m not. Izzy wore a different costume to Matt’s work party and trick-or-treating below. Allison lived in her Snow White costume for a few years around this time.
2010
You’re going to start to notice repeat costumes. The girls liked what they liked!
2011
Three little witches. I was into costumes this year.
2012
Cheerleaders, again! This might just be my favorite pre-Brian picture. These girls are so gorgeous!
2013
Brian is with us now and is still just “zero years old.” The kids were Minnie and Mickey, and a Witch with her Black Cat.
2014
This will be the first year of many to come that have a Star Wars theme, especially for Brian. Of course, Michelle is a witch. She has always marched to her own beat. I love how she is so unabashedly herself.
2015
Witch, zombie, vampire, darth vader …. It was a dark, scary year.
2016
There is a picture of Izzy smiling, but you can’t see Brian’s face in that one. I love her cute little serious face. She is a book character, fyi.
2017
Michelle and Allison had to have these costumes for a school program, so then they became Halloween costumes. I had to bribe Izzy to match Brian – Rae and BB8!
2018
Michelle really likes to do her own thing. I said she could be a death eater to join the theme, but she was adamant that her costume had nothing to do with Harry Potter.
2019
Here we are tonight on the way to the church party. Well, turns out Ally and Shelly aren’t so into costumes anymore. On Thursday, they still plan on throwing on something from the Halloween bucket and going trick-or-treating, because … candy. Izzy is joining a group of her middle school friends and they’re all being M&Ms. Brian picked a dress up (football player) from his toy box. If they’re happy, I’m happy. All my costume energy went into the dog this year, ha!
My kids are getting so big!
I hope you enjoyed this trip down memory lane! This was so fun to put together!!! Now, onto more photo organizing. It is going to take a while.
From my home to yours,
Mary
