Cleaning Champion: Affresh Dishwasher and Washing Machine Tablets

This post is not sponsored by Affresh. It is happening because Amazon, who knows a lot about what I buy, kept recommending them to me. No joke, every time I’d go to shop, these babies would be “Recommended for you.” Well, the joke’s on me, because the not-so-sneaky advertising worked. What’s a girl supposed to do? I love trying new cleaning stuff. 🤷‍♀️

Affresh Dishwasher Tablets

Alright, I was admittedly skeptical about this how the dishwasher tablets actually worked. It wasn’t until I looked at the “before” picture of my dishwasher and compared it to how it looked after that I realized what a difference it made.

Of course, after I ran the cleaning load, the first thing I noticed when I opened the door was all the gunk in the crease where the dishwasher door closes against the bottom. I had to wipe that off, but luckily it came up … Okay, okay, I confess. Matt wiped it for me. He was home and helping with dishes at the time. He is a good one.

(I’m not sure why, but the pictures don’t do the difference justice?! Maybe it’s just the stainless steel always looks a little like this? Also, it is missing the fresh smell. I think my next dishwasher will be classic white inside and out – I’m a little over the stainless steel look.)

My new plan is to use the tablets every couple of months. Check out Affresh Dishwasher Tablets.

Affresh Washing Machine Tablets

The difference the tablets made in my washing machine was more subtle. I couldn’t SEE a huge difference, but there was a nice crisp fresh smell that was super pleasant. And a washing machine that smells good probably doesn’t have bacteria lurking (because bacteria is usually what causes smells).

Recently when we were headed out for a little vacation, one of my beautiful children closed the door to my washing machine on our way out the door. And of course it was still moist inside from a recent load. Bless her heart, it smelled so bad in there when we got home. The next load of clothes I tried came out smelling gross because of it, so I knew I had to figure this out. Sometimes the washing machine needs a little freshening up!

My plan is to use these a few times a year, or as needed if one of my kids shuts the door before our next trip.

My New Little Gadget

FYI – I bought this little gadget to keep the door slightly open when not in use. When I told my mom about because I think she should get one too, she said “gosh, you have a gadget for everything.” Well, yeah, when it makes so much sense.

It stays on with a magnet inside the tough plastic. So it pops on and off super easy-like. I stick it on top of the washer when the door needs to close. Check out the door holder gadget, or as the people who make it say the “Door-Doc Front Load Washer Mold and Odor Prevention: Rescue Your Washing Machine“.

These are the kinds of videos I could end up watching all day. So satisfying to see the magnet click onto the washer.

This post is part of an ongoing series of my Cleaning Champions. Cleaning things that I try and like, and maybe one of them will solve your problems.
