Cleaning Champion: Air Purifiers

Cookie jumps in front of the camera, every time. She’s a bit on an attention hog, but let’s get to the point …

This Cleaning Champion post isn’t about a certain brand of air purifiers, but the beauty of air purifiers in general. (Though I will share with you the brands I’ve had good luck using.) The number one reason I use air purifiers: less dust in my house.

My house has the return air unit on the opposite side of the house as the master bedroom. All the bedrooms on that side of the house are easy to keep dust-free, no coincidence. But my bedroom and my son’s bedroom that are on the other side? Dust visibly builds up the day after I dust. The next day!!!!

I do not like to fight a losing battle, so I went into problem solving mode. I dust regularly, so I know that’s not the issue. It’s the air. It doesn’t make money-sense for us to add another air unit to the house, but there is another way to pull dust out of the air. Enter: the air purifiers.

This air purifier is in my room. We put the more powerful one here because I keep my door open throughout the day and it’s by the door. It can pull in more air than just what’s in the room.

This air purifier is in my son’s room. We keep his door closed while he is at school all day so that the dog won’t go in and eat his toys. This one is still pretty powerful, though it just needs to clean the air in his room.

We already had these air purifiers scattered around the house in other places. Magically when I placed one in my room and one in my son’s room, the terrible dust problem solved itself. Now I can just dust on my cleaning schedule and I never see big piles of dust build-up in between.

The reason this works is because when the air purifier pulls in the air, it filters the dust out before it blows the air back out. It catches so much dust. Lots and lots of dust.

That my friends, is a pretty big win. Eating up lots of dust are why air purifiers are a Cleaning Champion to me.

The air purifiers I have and enjoy are:

  • Coway Air Purifier (Amazon)
  • Germ Guardian Air Purifier (Amazon)

Really, though, any well-reviewed air purifier will do the trick!

If you start to see dust again even though you’re dusting regularly, it is time to change the filter! Or just set a reminder on your phone so you don’t ever need to see the dust build up again.

Enjoy your clean air!

From my home to yours,
Mary
