If you’re lucky this week, you don’t store much in your bathrooms and this can be a really easy week. If you do store a lot of stuff in your bathroom, keep reminding yourself how much easier it will be to CLEAN your bathroom without all the stuff in the way!
If you have stockpiles of stuff you aren’t going through very quickly, donate to a women’s shelter or homeless shelter. Donate while it is still usable instead of keeping it until it’s expired!
The focus of this week is definitely decluttering, but I won’t blame you if you want to do a little cleaning while you declutter this week. You may be more comfortable decluttering in these rooms if you’ve got some clean surfaces to work with!
Reminders:
- Follow the steps in How To Declutter, which includes actually emptying each small area as you declutter.
- Continue to go back to the Required Reading for inspiration throughout the Declutter Challenge. Many of the posts have been updated and I’m slowly adding videos!
- If you’d like to see the whole plan at once, instead of one week at a time, you can get a Declutter Printable Pack. I’ve updated the Declutter Challenge guide and I think it will help you finish this challenge successfully.
- Just Joining Us? It may be tempting to start from the beginning, but I think you should start on the current week with the group.
Now on to your assignment for the week …
Week #10 – Bathroom(s)
Here are the areas to declutter each day to complete the bathrooms. If you have multiple bathrooms, you will need to double up on bathrooms to complete all bathrooms this week.
Monday – closet
Tuesday – upper cabinets
Wednesday – countertops
Thursday – lower cabinets
Friday – tubs and showers
Saturday – any remaining area and floor
Sunday – rest for the week ahead
Take the time right now to plan these tasks into your week. Make arrangements and changes to your schedule when necessary. You may have to let go of something to focus on the challenge, but the sacrifice will be worth it in the end!
The Declutter Guide
👉 Only one week of the challenge is available on the blog each week during my 91 Day Declutter Challenge while I offer it freely once a year to my blog readers. My declutter program is only available via purchase the rest of the year. The complete declutter program can be found in the Declutter Challenge Guide I offer in my shop. I put it on a big sale during the annual Declutter Challenge as an incentive to get the guide because ultimately, I do think it helps you be more successful! Plus, it does contain things not found on the blog. Though the guide is definitely not required to participate, I really appreciate your support of my little blog!

And I’ll say it again for safe-keeping, please don’t forget to continue to read the Required Reading throughout the challenge to keep the declutter inspiration flowing.
Have a great week of decluttering!
From my home to yours,
Mary

I just saw this. I’m going to have to try and catch up!
Good luck!
Hi Mary, I’ve participated in your Declutter Challenges for the past four years. I appreciate how you break it down per room and have been successful in getting rid of “stuff”. Now I’m down to trying to organize old newspaper clippings and photos that I’ve inherited from my parents and aunt and uncle. All who were very active in their communities. I feel it’s part of our family history but there are so many clippings. I only have one son and I don’t think he’ll want a scrap book full of old newspaper photos and announcements. Help! Do you have any articles on dealing with this. I find it overwhelming and actually stress inducing.
Thank you for any tips you can give me.

I think that these old newspaper clippings are important pieces of your family history. Though your son may not want to store a scrapbook, you could scan the files and give him those files. You never know if any future posterity would love it. My dad recently gave me a little usb drive of all of the family pictures from his youth. That’s much easier for me to store than if he would’ve given me a bunch of scrapbook/picture albums. Good luck! It’s a big project, but I think it’s one you can feel really good doing.
Mary, Replied through WordPress. Not sure it went through.
Thank you so much for your prompt response. Scanning the clippings is a brilliant idea!! We also have a home scanner that should make the task easier. So once scanned do you think it’s best to just go ahead discard the clippings?
I think I’ve grown co-dependent on you for all things decluttering! You’re the best.
Daryl
I already replied to your email, but I’m going to reply here too in case someone in the future is interested in the answer. 🙂 Yes, once the clippings are scanned (and backed up!) off to the trash they go!
