It is August now and school starts here in 14 days. 14 days?!?! Summer mornings are all easy-breezy – waking up without an alarm and slowly easing into the day …Ā aah. That is very different from school mornings, which are GO! GO! GO! GO!
TidyLiving sent me a Back-to-Campus Bundle and I wanted to show you how I’ll be using it to make mornings easier this school year. Because really, with four kids,Ā it is my mission in life to make school mornings as easy as possible.
KIDS DAILY OUTFIT SORTER
One of the most helpful ways I make mornings easier is the daily clothes sorter. When selecting what to wear, there is the potential for so much drama. Mis-matching issues, missing pieces, and more can slow down school mornings.
You can use the 6 slots as an ordered set – Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Weekend. Or, put 6 good outfits in all the slots and let the child pick any pile any day (this works best for us). I especially love this for my little man, because it helps him be independent getting dressed while also matching!
I can not explain fully in words what a difference picking outfits in advance makes on school mornings!
(I avoid taking pictures in dark closets as much as possible, so I had my kids help me with these.)
DON’T FORGET A PLACE FOR SHOES
And to go along with the clothes, of course we need a place to organize shoes. I love how narrow this organizer is! It fits so well in the closet, barely taking any room at all, but providing SO MUCH organizing space!
The velcro top is much better than the hanger-type alternative I’ve seen. It is very secure and it stays in place!!
HEADING TO COLLEGE?
Obviously, the Back-to-Campus Bundle is a great organizing set for kids heading off to college. These items are great for dorm-organizing!
Here is the bundle (picture courtesy TidyLiving).
- Clothes Hanger (wide) – not just for clothes! Shoes, a basket of socks or underwear, accessories, and more could fit in here.
- Shoe Hanger (narrow) – also not just for shoes! Imagine rolled up sweaters, jeans, and more!
- Narrow No-Slip Hangers – narrow hangers allow more clothes in a tiny closet.
- Under-bed storage container – for off-season clothes, extra bedding, or anything you want to store neatly out-of-the-way.
- Pop-up hamper – Drag dirty clothes anywhere. Bendable to squeeze into small spaces.
I really love these hangers for tween’s clothes! They are sturdy (not easily breakable), but also narrow and non-slip. That non-slip part is soooo important to me. I hate when clean clothes fall off hangers and lie around the bottom of closets.
MORE THAN SCHOOL ORGANIZING
I’m actually in Branson, MO right now, finishing up a family reunion being held here. While I was packing for the family pictures we’ve taken while here, I put all the special picture clothes in one place in the under-bed container. With the trunk full of luggage and boxes, this was flexible and fit nicely.
I always bring laundry bags or pop-up hampers when we travel to collect our dirty clothes. Here is the Tidy Living bag sitting by the washer/dryer in theĀ suite where we’re staying. Having dirty laundry in a bag(s) is so much better than scattered piles on the floor.
Obviously, this Back-to-Campus Bundle can help organize a ton of places and not just for students, but I am most looking forward to school mornings being a little easier!!
Check out this Back-to-Campus Bundle and others too!

Silly question, perhaps, but where would I find a sturdy fabric laundry bag like yours?

It is part of some of the Back-to-Campus bundles on TidyLiving, but here is the link for just that bag. It is sooo sturdy. https://www.tidyliving.com/btc-laundry-bag-white.html

Mary your first comments made me bust out laughing! Thank you. Then your post made me thoughtful. I had a friend, who on Sunday nights would help her daughter pick out her outfits for the week, and in a clear ziploc went her accessories, hair bows, etc… for each day and attached to same out fit. Shoes were set so she could choose in the morning. Strict rule to put shoes back k when home from school. She did the same for her son.
My mom at night after dinner , would use old plastic butter bowls that had lids, to put dry cereal in and close the lid. They make bowls with lids today found at Walmart or any kind of Tupperware section. She set the table so all we had to do was pour milk in. All clothes were set out and book bags, by the door with our coats. She was a single mom then, God bless her. She was a nurse so mornings had to be drama free..Hope this helps.

Those sound like great ideas! It takes a lot of work ahead of time, but it is all worth it for smoother school mornings!
