I’m pretty obsessed with our golden doodle Cookie. And truthfully, she is pretty obsessed with me too. Literally, she follows me around the house all day. It doesn’t matter how comfortable she is, if I get up and leave the room for just a minute, she follows me. If I’m moving around in one room, her little eyes are following me around the room. As I’m writing this blog post, she is warming my feet. I love every bit of her loyal devotion. And of course, I want to treat her well in return.
So, during Spring Break, when I planned to take my kids on some all-day outings where she couldn’t come, I didn’t want to just leave her home alone. She is used to me being gone for a few hours here and there, but definitely not all day!
In some of the dog owner groups I’m in, I had heard people talk about using Rover.com to find dog babysitters. I thought I’d give it a try for Cookie’s sake. Here was my experience:
My Initial Impression of the website –
The first thing I did on Rover.com was search for providers in my zip code, which was very straightforward. What was surprising is that I live in a small town in Texas and I was actually shocked at how many dog sitters I found close to my home.
I could read reviews and see pictures they’ve taken on jobs. I liked that I could do all this searching without even signing in.
How I decided who to trust –
I read carefully through the reviews and looked carefully through the pictures. I decided to choose someone that was willing to host Cookie at their house because I wasn’t quite ready to let someone I didn’t know into my house. I chose Cortney F. because her pictures showed happy, well-cared for dogs.
Booking Cookie’s 1st Stay
While I had Cortney’s profile pulled up, it is very obvious where to click to book an appointment. I clicked on the service I wanted, and the day I wanted, then I submitted it to Cortney. At this time I also created my account with information about Cookie. I received a return message from Cortney about the booking within minutes!
Cortney reviewed my request and accepted it. Then, I received an email from Rover to finalize my booking and pre-pay.
It was simple, straightforward and booking went very smoothly. Prices for the different services were very clearly marked, which I always appreciate.
About Cookie’s stay with Cortney F.
I was nervous leaving my puppy with a stranger, but my fears were definitely relieved throughout the day as Cortney texted me a steady flow of adorable pictures where Cookie was obviously being loved and pampered.
Cookie’s 2nd Visit
Cookie was so excited to see Cortney and her daughter on that second day. I could tell that they had treated her well just by how happy she was to see them again.
And once again, the pictures did not disappoint.
My Review
My honest review is that I’ve had two great experiences with Rover.com and will continue to use them in the future for booking sitters for Cookie. Cortney wasn’t available on the day when I was chaperoning my kindergartners field trip last week, but she communicated quickly so I had plenty of time and options to find someone else.
If you want to give them a try, I’d love for you to book with this referral link.
