Today I’m going to tell you a little laundry stain-fighting secret. Shhh … don’t tell!!
(Just kidding, of course. Tell everyone you know. 😉)
A few years ago when I was on fertility meds and still not getting pregnant, I started looking into obscure fertility voodoo. You just get to a point where you are willing to consider even the wackier ideas. One idea I came across seemed a bit paranoia-induced at first, but then the more it ran through my mind, the more I was convinced there might be something to it, so then I went seeking more and more information. That is when I learned all about how Laundry Detergent is one of the most toxic things in your home. And not only is it pretty toxic, but the toxic chemicals stick around in your clothes, rubbing up against your skin all day. What are the chances that your body doesn’t absorb at least some of those chemicals through your skin? Probably zero chance, so take a look at your laundry detergent and say hello to the chemicals that are leaking into the bodies of everyone in your family. Well, now isn’t that lovely.
Once that idea caught hold in my mind, there was no going back. I switched to Shaklee’s All-Natural Laundry Detergent, because it was the natural, non-toxic, convenient choice. (I put my laundry detergent on automatic shipment, so it arrives every month with my family’s vitamins. Easy!!!!! It is even easy to change around my shipment if we are going on vacation or take a month off if I don’t go through it very fast and the laundry detergent starts to stock-pile.)
The most frequent question I get about the laundry detergent is Does it Work? Yes, yes, yes! I even keep a small squirt bottle of straight detergent in my closet to pre-treat stains before they go in the hamper. Shaklee’s laundry detergent is a winner for sure.
Would you like to meet my laundry fighting team? They don’t just look pretty, these bad boys keep my laundry fresh and clean!
2 – Nature Bright
3 – Basic H2 (The Degreaser mix is 1.5 teaspoons Basic H2 in 16 ounces of water. The yellow spray bottle in the set of 3 Basic H2 bottles has the recipe right on the side for convenience.)
4 – Soft Fabric
On my daughters’ 8th birthday, they wore beautiful white dresses and their birthday cake had the cursed red frosting. Yeah, you know where this story is leading. She cried when she dropped her cake down her front, because she thought she ruined her dress. Far from it!
For stubborn stains, especially on white clothes, I have a little stain-fighting secret that has removed EVERY stain, including the one above and below.
This is what I do to remove every stain —
- Spray with the Basic H2 Degreaser.
- Sprinkle with Nature Bright.
- Spray again with Basic H2 Degreaser.
- Rub the fabric together for a bit of friction on the site of the stain.
- Wash with Fresh Laundry Detergent. Check the stain before I put it in the dryer and repeat steps if necessary. Usually not necessary.
I’ve also been known to put the stained clothes in a bucket with just enough water to cover the clothes, then I add in Nature Bright to give it a good soaking. This alone works miracles.
The pump lids make it sooo easy to measure. I totally measure how much detergent by “how many times I push the pump down”. Laundry needs to be as easy as possible in my life, because quite honestly, I kind of like to do other stuff more than I like laundry. You too? 🙂
If you like laundry to be easy and safe, you should definitely give Shaklee a try. My daughters eczema has improved, and my girls don’t get mysterious rashes anymore. It is also safe enough to use on baby clothes. Being super economical seems like a nice added bonus to the other stuff.

Yeah, I need a laundry detergent that works!
