Let your kids pack for themselves on your next vacation! One of the first things I shared on my blog when I started six years ago was my Packing List for Kids because I’m a big believer in delegating, and I always have my kids pack for themselves as soon as they can. Looking at the old post now is actually kind of embarrassing. I had no idea how to create printables when I started blogging, so I shared an image that I had drawn on paper and scanned. And when I scanned it, it didn’t even scan straight. Take a look at the beautiful, antique printable:
Like I said, embarrassing. It is just so bad. And printing it was pretty bad too. To print it, you had to right-click on the picture, save the picture and then print as an image. Fun, right?
The New Printable
One of the best things I’ve learned in the last 6 years is how to create a printable. Re-doing this packing list has been on my list for a long time. I am happy to finally create a packing list for kids that isn’t embarrassing. You could still save the image below, but you could also just download the PDF right here (the download has better resolution, FYI).
This is what the new printable looks like – How is that for progress?!?!
I really do think it is a good idea to let your kids pack for themselves. It teaches them important life skills, plus makes your job a little easier when you travel. Win-win.
If you like this post (or any blog post of mine), I appreciate it SO MUCH when you pin it.
From my home to yours,
Mary

Such a cute idea. We don’t travel much but this would come in really handy when we do.

That is an amazing endorsement that you found the “antique” printable helpful!! Crazy enough, it is one of my more popular blog posts and continues to be accessed over time, which is one reason I really wanted to try to create a new one!

From you first posted this list our family has been using it. My girls are now 19 and 23 and still find it helpful/useful. It’s my go to as well…Found the new version today because I and hubby will be going on a trip.
The two boxes on the older version is helpful for when returning and need to make sure everything comes back home.😉
Thanks for caring to share.

Love that you love it. And I always appreciate feedback. If I create a new version, I will keep your recommendation in mind. 🙂
