This week my third daughter turned 10. Next week I’ll show a few more party details from her Unicorn & Rainbow Party, but I wanted to start out with this one, because it was so simple and made such an impact in decorating. It is a Rainbow Banner made from Jelly Roll Fabric.
I actually made this a few years ago for my twins’ 10th birthday and it has been great to re-use for several parties.
Creating was so simple: I took a long piece of twine and tied the fabric strips in a rainbow jelly roll to the twin in rainbow order.
Jelly Rolls explained for non-Quilters …
The idea might seem really obvious for quilters, but I know there are a lot of non-quilting readers out there. Jelly Rolls are sets of pre-cut strips of fabric that coordinate in some way. There are so many designs and possibilities. If you need strips of different fabrics, this is a really affordable way to get it. Normally you’d have to buy more fabric than you’d need to get this much variety, which of course would cost more than you needed to spend!
This is the Jelly Roll I used for this banner, but there are so many other jelly rolls that would make amazing banners … like this one or this one.
This fabric banner was an easy addition to my party decor bucket, but it’s one I know we’ll use again and again!
Stay tuned for all the details of the Unicorns and Rainbow tween birthday party. It was a lot of fun.
From my home to yours,
Mary
