Welcome to Week #5 of the Spring Cleaning Challenge!
I’m going to be completely honest with you. When I announced the Spring Cleaning Challenge, I had a five-week plan in the works and announced 5 weeks. But then Coronavirus came and I decided to change everything up. Then my new Spring Cleaning plan only needed 4 weeks. So, I threw in a bonus week of the garage.
I think it works out because IT IS a good time of year to get the garage cleaned out!
Remember that Spring Cleaning just really means “deep cleaning,” so if it’s no longer spring when you do this, that’s okay. This challenge is just a plan on how to get your home deep cleaned. It’s always a good time to do that.
If you’re just joining in, this is what you missed:
- Announcing Spring Cleaning Challenge
- Week 1 – Deep Clean Your Public Areas
- Week 2 – Deep Clean Your Private Areas
- Week 3 – Household Jobs
- Week 4 – Start Cleaning & Laundry Routine
- Week 5 – The Garage (current week)
Feel free to start at the beginning, or start anytime. I can’t say this enough – it is always a good time to deep clean!
The Entire 5-Week Plan
If you want to see the entire plan at one glance, you can find the printable bundle here. The calendar in the printable makes it easy to mix assignments around. I mean it: the calendar and checklists are completely editable! (As well as all the other goodies loaded into the bundle.)

SPRING CLEANING PACK Includes:
- Spring Cleaning Calendar (Customizable) – 1 page
- Spring Cleaning Checklists (Customizable) – 18 pages {Checklists include – List of Rooms, Kitchen, Dining Room, Living Room, Office, Bedrooms, Bathrooms, Halls & Closets, Laundry Room, Household, Garage, Outdoors, Bonus, and 5 empty lists of varying colors in which even the room heading is editable.}

This Week’s Assignment
Remember, when applicable, you are going to clean top to bottom. Make your own checklists or use mine from the printable bundle. (You do not need the bundle to follow along with these assignments.)
Week #5 The Garage:
- Day 1 – Clear Out & Declutter (Day 1 of 3)
- Day 2 – Clear Out & Declutter (Day 2 of 3)
- Day 3 – Clear Out & Declutter (Day 3 of 3)
- Day 4 – Organize (Day 1 of 2)
- Day 5 – Organize (Day 2 of 2)
- Day 6 – Clean Up
There are more cleaning tips listed below, but you’re in luck. I’ve written LOTS of stuff about organizing garages.
Cleaning Tips
You can browse all of my cleaning posts here. I have never counted, but I think I’ve written more about cleaning than decluttering if you add it all up. There’s lots of posts in there that will help this week.
Good luck out there in your garage. I know it’s a big job, but it is SO WORTH IT!!! You’ve got this!

Hello dear Mary, Like many we too have been distracted by COVID. Ready for a “Mary-fix” I’ve come to your website, but find that the most current post is in May 2020. Are you and your family OK?? I’m so worried. I’ve come to love & appreciate you and hope that you all are well?
Well… it has been crazy to say the least. A lot has happened. I plan to be back at it and I have a lot to say. Right now I’m still healing from a head injury, so my big achievement for today is to reply to comments. 🙂 Thanks for checking in, it means a lot.
I hope it’s totally healed now. We’ve been looking forward to your new content since June. Take care, Mary!
It’s taking so long, but I’m prepping and will be posting new content soon. It just takes me so much longer!
