Today I’ll sharing a tour of Ally’s bedroom. She is 14.5 years old. I shared her twin sister’s room, Teen Girl Bedroom Tour #1, yesterday. (This is the last girls bedroom. Look for the tour of the little boys bedroom tomorrow.)
Important: I did NOT clean, organize, or tweak this bedroom at all before taking the video and photos. I took the pictures on a Saturday after the kids each cleaned their rooms as they do each Saturday. I want to contribute to content on the internet that is inspiring, but achievable. I allow my kids freedom to adjust their bedrooms and arrange things as they want, which means itās not perfect, but it is better than perfect to me.
I enjoy the aspirational, magazine-worthy Pinterest home tours as much as anyone. BUT, I know from talking to many readers that only seeing those kinds of photos can be discouraging. I hope youāll enjoy this realistic bedroom tour!
Iāve included a quick video tour to go along with the pictures. For me, videos make it easier to get a real feel of the room.
The Tour in Pictures
Ally is an aspiring writer. Though she is so talented at all the things she tries to do, she is so humble. She
She will be the first one to tell you that keeping a clean room is not her natural priority, but she tries hard and is totally respectful of my desire for her room to be clean enough.
She doesn’t spend a ton of time in her room. She does most of her writing from her laptop on the dining room table.
But, she does escape to her room to read. She’ll either lay out on her bed or snuggle up in her reading chair.
She chooses how things are arranged on her surfaces, but I do ask that the floor is cleared once a week to vacuum and she also does her laundry once a week which is another excuse to clear dirty laundry off her floor.
She makes her bed once in a while, but for sure on Saturdays, especially every other Saturday when she washes her sheets.
She does a great job cleaning her room on a schedule. It may not always look like this, but she is the one that cleaned it and made it look this way for pictures. I’m proud of her.
Look how sweet she is all snuggled up to a book.
Ignore the dog sniffing the garbage. Cookie is not normally allowed in the kids’ rooms, but she really enjoyed the opportunity to sniff around everyone’s rooms while she followed me around as I took these pictures.
This girl is such a wonder to me. She is probably the most loving and compassionate person I know. I love her drive to channel her focus into her writing. I told her it takes 10,000 to become an expert and she has been checking off the hours of writing and writing and writing.
Ally told me that one day when she has her own house, she’ll just ask me to create a plan for her to clean it and she’ll just follow the plan. š She doesn’t like to “think about cleaning and organizing,” but she knows how to work hard and follow a plan!
I love this girl and her lovely room.
From my home to yours,
Mary

Darling! Love it! My kids get blank walls because I’m lazy. These are so fun!
Mary says
You are one of the least lazy people I know. Sometimes, blank walls can be relaxing. And, thank you. The kids love their rooms and that is pretty much all that matters.
