The BEST Pizza Sauce (Freezable)

The BEST Pizza Sauce

In my mind, this recipe is called “Grandma Bobo’s Pizza Sauce”, but since that might not evoke the same sentiment of good eating in your minds, I’ll call it The BEST Pizza Sauce. I don’t want anyone mistaking it for anything else. My grandma knew her way around a kitchen.

A good pizza sauce like this deserves to go on a good pizza. This sauce is an important part of my mini-pizzas (that I freeze and dole out for school lunches), but first things first, let’s make some good sauce.

First, here’s a visual of the process. Visuals help me so much, not sure about you.

How to make the BEST pizza sauce in the whole world

Now, let’s get to the recipe. The ingredients are simple and you probably have them on hand!

The BEST Pizza Sauce (Freeze-able!)

A tried and true pizza sauce, beloved by many generations.
Author Mary Johanson

Ingredients

  • 6 oz. Tomato Paste
  • 1 1/2 cans Water (using tomato paste can to measure)
  • 1 tsp Italian Seasoning
  • 1 tsp Basil
  • 1/2 tsp Oregano
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients together in small saucepan.
  • Stir and bring to a boil.
  • Turn heat to low and simmer for about an hour (you'll need a splatter guard on the saucepan).
  • Remove sauce from heat, allow to cool slightly before using on pizza.
  • Extra sauce freezes beautifully. Just thaw and use!

I hope you enjoy this pizza sauce as much as we do!

We make pizza once a week because everyone loves pizza night! Homemade pizza is everyone’s favorite dinner – so much better and less expensive than anything else!

From my home to yours,
Mary

How do you freeze this? In zip loc bags? How would you recommend thawing this? This recipe looks great, thanks for sharing

I’ve frozen in baggies, jars, plastic containers. Any which way has worked for me.
