The first kids’ bedroom tour in our new home begins with Izzy’s room. Izzy is 12.5, still a tween but almost a teenager.
Important: I did NOT clean, organize, or tweak this bedroom at all before taking the video and photos. I took the pictures on a Saturday after the kids each cleaned their rooms as they do each Saturday. I want to contribute to content on the internet that is inspiring, but achievable. I allow my kids freedom to adjust their bedrooms and arrange things as they want, which means it’s not perfect, but it is better than perfect to me.
I enjoy the aspirational, magazine-worthy Pinterest home tours as much as anyone. BUT, I know from talking to many readers that only seeing those kinds of photos can be discouraging. I hope you’ll enjoy this realistic bedroom tour!
I’ve included a quick video tour to go along with the pictures. For me, videos make it easier to get a real feel of the room.
The Tour in Pictures –
I love Izzy’s sense of humor. She is smart, fun to be around, kind, and SO responsible! And it definitely is wonderful to me that she keeps her room so nice. Her tour was first because she was the first one ready for pictures.
She sits here to do her homework, until she gets lonely and comes out to do it wherever other people are congregated.

This is just her room, but yep, she still has bunkbeds. I didn’t want to buy all new beds when we moved into this house, so she decided it would be fun to have bunk beds and use the top bunk for her stuffed animals. We’ll probably move on from the bunk beds when she is a little further into her teen years, but who knows.

Izzy shares these books with her sisters, but her room had the best wall for the bookshelves. Plus, we all agreed that she would be the best at managing the books. She enjoys keeping these books organized!

She has bookmarks available for those who read the books. She keeps track of who is reading what.
Also, the paper at the bottom of that bin is her entire list of every book on this shelf. She created and manages that herself!!!

Izzy’s room is such a joy to me. She takes care to keep it nice and clean. It is also one of the reasons we call her my mini-me. When I was younger, I took such pride in keeping my room nice that my mom told me that my clean room brought her so much joy.
I hope you enjoyed this tour! Look for the other three tours coming this week.
From my home to yours,
Mary

Love everything about this bedroom! Can I ask where you got the desk?
This is an inexpensive Ikea desk and the chair came from Amazon. (And thank you!)
Wow!
I love the rainbow thing – may have to borrow that for my K’s room!
Thank you! I first made it for a birthday party, but re-purposed it because it was too cute for a one-time use. I have a post about some that I’ve made – https://creatingmaryshome.com/jelly-roll-fabric-banner/
Hi there! Wondering where the bookshelves are from.
They were from Wayfair, but so many years ago that I’m not sure they’re still there. I believe we’ve had them about 7 years.
