While I was decluttering this year, I had to face the facts: it had been months since I used my steam mop. This is kind of shocking to admit. I mean, my arrival into using a steam mop was so weird. About 12 years ago when I had baby twins, I had seen lots of commercials for steam mops so I ended up dreaming how a steam mop could clean my tough-to-clean tile. I ended up going to the store the next day and buying one. My love of steam mops had officially begun.
So, imagine my shock when I realized I hadn’t used it in so long.
Well, I had bought an O-Cedar mop after a friend told me how much she loved hers. I bought it as a “backup mop” that would be useful when I needed to mop in tight places, like behind toilets. I guess you can say that the backup mop started to steal the show.
It is just so simple to use. (Well, except for when my puppy complicates things. There is no contest that she loves the mop more than I do.)
I always eyeball how much Basic H2 to add to my mop water. I figure if it is sudsy, that is good enough … I’d estimate about a tablespoon.
Cookie takes care of any fallen food, so my floors have been a lot cleaner since her arrival. She still doesn’t clean things like the scuff marks the chairs leave.
I dip the mop in the water, then put it in the spin tray. The mop spins when I press the pedal with my foot. No bending over to wring out a mop!!!
Cookie was obviously very interested in every step of this, but especially of the actual mopping. She got some good exercise following every movement of the mop. Somehow I was still able to clean the floor. Scuff marks gone easy peasy!
When I lifted the mop off the floor, Cookie finally got her prize and pulled the mop head off the mop. It snaps on and off for easy cleaning. I throw it in with my cleaning cloths in the wash.
The person who bought my used steam mop on Facebook seemed pleased to get it at a steal. I feel like I’m still the winner, though, because I’m left with the better mop.
You can find this mop at the grocery store, but I ordered it on Amazon so I could get the pack with the extra mop heads.
