This will be news to almost everyone, because Matt and I have hardly mentioned this in the last month. But, the same day Matt’s dad passed away from Covid, there was a leak in our master bedroom. Also that is the same day I cut my own hair, which I did after we dried everything off. All before we got the call from Matt’s mom.
I can hardly stand how doom and gloom all around me. You too?
So, let me put a positive spin on this. This is the least serious house-flood we’ve ever encountered. We will not even contact insurance about this. We will have contractors come and fix this, and it will cost less than our home insurance deductible. (We’ve already sent them pictures and they are going to work us into their schedule soon.)
We’ve had some kind of water issue at every house we’ve owned. Some are even funny(ish) in hindsight. Well, kind of funny. Not, funny funny.
Our reaction to this flood was to cry, then laugh. Because sometimes laughing at the insanity is all you can do! And this may make me sound crazy, but actually being able to laugh at ourselves is keeping us sane. We know hard things are happening to people all around us, why should we be exempt??
Anyway, you probably want to see the pictures now…
Good news: everything is now very dry and there isn’t any mold going on. The contractor will take a close look when he comes to fix it and make sure everything is in tip-top shape.
Now I just wait for it to be fixed, which I’m excited about. It is an every day visual reminder of what we’ve faced in the last few months. Not just the flood, but all of it. I’m not sure about you, but I’m ready for some closure.
- No, the picture above and below were NOT taken on the same day. Cookie and I very much like to have quiet time here every day if we can make it happen. Our quiet time helps us stay cheerful amidst craziness.
- My dog sleeps like a weirdo. “Cookie, that’s not the part that goes on the pillow.”
Until that closure, this will be my view. It could be so much worse, so I’ll just stay grateful in the meantime.
How’s your quarantine going? Anything fun?
From my home to yours,
Mary

I am glad its under control!! How are you and Izzy feeling now? Is your health better?

Hi Mary! I apologize if I am a bother. I am just reaching out as a blog friend. I know little of organizing like you but my family is very medical oriented, with scientists, microbiologists, and doctors. Make sure you get tested for walking pneumonia. Its easy to overlook right now because of the COVID 19 scare and some Doctors forget. If its a prolonged low fever it could be a bacterial infection that needs to be treated with antibiotics. Take care and best wishes to all of you!

I agree! I bet so many regular things are getting missed right now! There were lots of reasons to go to the doctor before Covid-19, but now everyone is afraid to go. It’s scary and weird out there!

Hi Mary,
I haven’t seen anything from you lately. Are you and your family doing okay? Since Covid, after the flood in your home after your husband’s father’s death from Covid. How are you all coping? I don’t mean to pry just concerned. Positive thoughts to you all.ā¤ā¤

Thanks so much for asking Debi. A lot has happened. I do plan to blog again and catch everyone up. Right now I’m recovering from a head injury so my big achievement today is to finally reply to comments. I’m getting better slowly. I’ll be back at it again. š Thanks so much for checking on me, I really appreciate it!
