Our dining area: picking out the lighting was one of the bigger perks of a custom build.
And that table? Overstock.com! Really!
My place for my favorite dishes, which reminds me: I need to use these more.
I’m pretty sure this wreathΒ is St. Patrick’s decor, but it totally fit my color scheme.
I made the curtains, which was a pretty huge project. I looked for a long time for the right blue fabric for the ties, but could never find anything. I decided to use leftover fabric from my bedroom curtains, and I ended up liking it.
We eat 2 meals a day at this breakfast bar. I love being able to work in the kitchen, but still be right with my kids sitting up at the bar.
My blue island with a butcher block counter. I cut on my butcher block constantly.
My farmhouse sink. The pink-bottle is my degreaser and the blue-bottle is my stainless steel and granite cleaner. All made from Shaklee’s Basic H2 – found here. The dish soap is by Shaklee too. I used a 3M hook for my dish towel.
This corner is where all the baking magic happens.
My step-stool and little helpers chair.
I’m not a fan of a cluttered fridge-front (or interior!), so I made a magnet board. This is where I keep a calendar, menu, grocery list, and there is even a little room for extras – like pictures of my new nephew.
I’m notΒ too perfectionist about filling clear-front cabinets. I put my prettier stuff in there,Β but I figure it fits the eclectic/ shabby chic look if it isn’t exactly perfect. And if I’m wrong, please let me live in denial.
And yes, having the water-spout above the stove top is awesome. The five burner stove top sure comes in handy during large meals! And I can remember vividly the day I found the tiles for that mosaic … I was on cloud 9!
My double oven. I use this all.the.time. All the time!
The tops of my cabinets. I had fun playing around with different colors, shades, shapes, and textures.
And my pantry. Love the size!
And right across from the pantry and next to my kitchen … my desk! And if you are a fan of The Piano Guys, you may recognize that musician.
My little organizer was helping me take these pictures. When done, she asked “Do you want me to organize this cabinet now?” Of course!
There you have it. My kitchen – for real. The most used room in the house! The next tour will be my garage. Excited?? Ha!
From my home to yours,
Mary

I love your kitchen, Mary!!! I have been eyeing those canned goods racks/organizers that you have in your pantry, but have not had the guts to take the plunge because I wasn’t sure if they really worked. Do you love them???
orgmatters says
Love them? I’ve used them for about 5 years now and haven’t gotten rid of them yet, which I guess is my version of love! LOL! They are not perfect, but they do the job and make the pantry way more organized. I found them on Amazon for super cheap, so it isn’t that much of a plunge if you want to give them a try.

Hello Mary,
I heart those spray bottles that you have around your sink. Where did you find them?
orgmatters says
I found those spray bottles at Walmart, in the dollar travel-size stuff section.

What a lovely kitchen, I just adore the blue island bench. I have inherited a very modern kitchen (from previous owner) but live in an old little cottage so I plan to do a mini makeover on my kitchen changing the benchtops from formica to a lovely soft beige granite and replacing the doors with solid tounge and groove in white.
I hopped over from The Shabby Creek Cottage. Kitchens seem to be popular posts, I have just featured a fabulous Farmhouse Kitchen makeover and had more hits in 3 days than on any other post!

Mary I love your kitchen!!! It is BEAUTIFUL!! Some day I hope to have one like that. For now, I have a “one-butt” kitchen in a very old house. We don’t even have room for a dishwasher!

I love your kitchen, but would like more details about how you organized it ! Everything in my kitchen is just stuffed without rhyme nor reason, n my son helped me organize it when he visited me, but NOBODY here helps. (Read that as my husband) n when I come home from shopping he “helps” me unload the stuff, n just stuffs it any-which-way into wherever he finds an empty spot. He forgets where he put things, n I can never find anything n it just feels ever so messy. Kids are easier to deal with than sick old men. Trust me.

Hmmm β¦ I haven’t taken a measuring tape to it in a while, but it is pretty big! My husband really loves it. It was my first pick with my furniture budget when we moved and I am still happy about it.

I think your kitchen is absolutely beautiful. I was wondering where you put your food storage though. I live in the UK where houses and kitchens are small(!) and so have my food storage on top of my kitchen cabinets. Doesn’t look so good π Any ideas?!
Mary says
My family lived in the UK when I was a teenager and I remember my mom trying to find places for our “pantry”. We ended up putting nice looking bookshelves in our little dining area and my mom used the bookshelves as food storage. You could use shelves that have cabinets? Do you have any wall space? I’m sorry that might not be super helpful. The thing about small spaces is being very creative with your space! Look for unused space that you’ve maybe overlooked that might require some creativity to use?? Good luck!!
Sandy Taylor says
What shade of green are your walls? I love green walls but can never get the right shade!
Mary says
It’s Sherwin Williams ‘Great Green’. It was recommended by a interior designer and I am glad I tried it.
Jane says
LOVE your desk chair! Would you happen to remember the name of the fabric?
Mary says
I don’t remember the name of the fabric, but I do remember I bought the cover at Pier 1. π
