Easy Valentine Banner

I created this banner last year, but right at the last minute before Valentine’s Day, so I never blogged about it. That is why you’ll see the mantel from my last house in the pictures below. I also made one for my mom and I thought it looked even better at her house since she decorates with more hints of red (^pictured above).

I got my inspiration when I found a little pack of heart doilies from Hobby Lobby for around a dollar! I already had card-stock and baker’s twine, so decided to go for it.

Banner Materials

  • Heart Doilies (I loved these multicolored ones!)
  • Cardstock Paper
  • Baker’s Twine (this is what I used)
  • Clear-drying Glue (I used Scotch quick-dry adhesive)
  • Single hole punch
  • Scissors

I glued a heart onto some cardstock paper and then traced the pendant around the heart. I used this first pendant to trace all the other ones, so they’d all be the same size.

After I had all the pendants cut out, I glued on the doily hearts and whole punched the top corners. As I laced the baker’s twine through the holes, I gently tied a not at each hole so that the pendants will stay evenly spaced.

It was so easy and I love how it turned out!

Do you decorate for every holiday? I love to have some decor for each holiday, but I don’t go all out. I like a little hint of decor sprinkled here and there. The simpler way is more my style. I always love visiting friends that decorate awesomely for each holiday, it’s just not my thing. What is your holiday style?

From my home to yours,
Mary

This is cute and looks like fun to make! I also love your letter board messages… might have to steal the star wars one for my own letter board this week!

I have the same quotes in those letterboards this year. I wasn’t feeling creative enough to think of something new this year!
