PLANNING REALLY DOES MATTER
Obviously, planning is important to me, but for good reason. Planning not only prepares the mind and calms my brain to get it all on paper, but planning saves so much time.
What do you do with the extra time you save? That is up to you.
- You can get more done.
- Use your time saving for hobbies or “fun time.”
- Get more sleep.
- Do an awesome project in your home that will make you LOVE YOUR HOME so much more …
^ Just to name a few.
SIMPLIFY WHERE YOU CAN
Whenever you take on new projects, something has to give in your schedule to make it happen. If couple or family time is something that will go, consider projects your partner or family can do with you.
Do other things to simplify your schedule to make room without making yourself crazy. If someone owes you a favor, trade it in now. Let someone else take your carpool, let your partner or kids help more with meals. Definitely think: easy dinners, especially on busy nights.
STRETCH YOURSELF
Maybe not every single week, but sprinkle in some projects that stretch yourself. Be willing to do what you need to solve some of those bigger problems. Don’t be afraid of hard work, because nothing good ever comes from that fear. You can do more than you know.
If not now, then when?
Let yourself love your home!
Get to planning, and don’t be afraid to have some fun with it. Just sayin’.
From my home to yours,
Mary

Love the quote! As someone who loves to “spur of the moment”, I think I’m going to make sure to keep that quote in mind when I want to avoid planning π

I think it’s okay to be spontaneous, but just make it part of the process to plan something out if it has multiple steps. Chances are there will be a good way to do those steps… that you’ll figure out while you plan it out.

Totally agree – thanks Mary π

Planning is such a great first step, full of dreams and possibilities on paper without the expense yet! I have always kept a fix-it/build-it list, love to look back over it and see the accomplishments and improvements we have made over the years. Keeps our family looking to the future!

How fun! What a rewarding list to keep over time. It is hard to think of how far we’ve come if we don’t keep track!
