Some days are hard and today is one of those days, so I spontaneously decided to write about my favorite comedy shows instead of what I had planned to write about. On days like today, I need a good laugh. Besides enjoying some Audible books by comedians and some stand-up comedy specials, I also regularly re-watch my favorite comedy sitcoms. There is nothing quite like a little pick-me-up from The Office or Friends, am I right?!
I’ve compiled a list of the best and most popular comedy shows of the last 20 years, some I like more than others, but I’ll leave that to your imagination. If you’re having a bad day, watch what makes you happy!
Warning: I don’t think any of these are for kids. Read the rating info to know if it is right for you. A lot of these are quite inappropriate (in a funny way 😉), so I often use the Parents Guide in IMDb to decide if I’m going to skip a portion of a show or episode or series altogether. When you use IMDb, search for the show, then select More >> Parents Guide.
I’ve organized these by streaming device for your convenience. You’re welcome. (Please tell me what I’m missing! The + in the title means I plan to keep this list updated!)

Now I have actual lists to go through when I’m in the mood for a pick-me-up. Normally, I scroll through my mental list and pick something I haven’t seen in a long time. Something I haven’t seen in a while can be as funny to me as the first time I watched it … the miracle of a bad memory.
I choose comedy over drama 99% of the time. One thing I’ve figured out is I have to be really careful watching drama shows, because they can really affect my mood. I tried This Is Us after everyone started talking about it, but I had to shut that off. Anything meant to drag me through an emotional rollercoaster, even if it is considered good-tv, is not worth it to me.
It is probably weird that I often talk about productivity, but yet I’m giving you a list of basically time-wasting potential. I believe you can watch a little comedy and have a good life … actually, maybe a better life because of the comedy? Use your time wisely, but remember to let your hair down once in a while and relax.
If you must feel productive at all times, only let yourself watch tv while you fold laundry or do the dishes. (I bet your laundry would never be easier to manage!)
