This is the 3rd pantry I’ve shown on the blog over the years, because we’re in the third house since I started writing this blog more than 7 years ago. I hope this is my pantry for a very very long time. We really love it here.
It looks so much like my last one, you may not be able to tell right away that it is a different pantry.
The Video Tour of My (new) Pantry
My 3rd daughter was diagnosed with a severe gluten allergy. I’ve seen gluten make her hallucinate! Needless to say, we’ve ended up in the ER with what I thought was a burst appendix by her cries and screams and we were actually relieved to finally have a diagnosis. I never imagined I would feel relieved to have to accommodate a child not eating gluten, but it is a lot better than watching her suffer. I do still have gluten in the house because it would be insanely expensive to convert every single snack and sandwich to gluten free for the other 6 people. Still, all of my dinners are gluten free now and slowly I’m figuring out how to replace a lot of our other foods too. That bread flour bin on the floor is actually empty right now.
If I forgot to explain something, ask in the comments and I’ll tell you. This is not a pantry of secrets … well, except for Miscellaneous ones. š
pss šTHIS is the can organizer I use.
pss šTHIS is the 3M Broom Holder.
pss š THIS is how to make the labels that are on the baskets.
pss š THIS is my last pantry tour, which is pretty similar even though it is a different house.
pss š THIS is the first pantry tour from two houses ago … beware the pictures are terrible!
pss š Also the clear plastic bins are from The Container Store and white plastic Y-Weave bins are from Target.
Did you see the empty container next to the Rx bin? Yeah, it is just a place holder in case I need a container for something in the future, because it fits with all the other clear ones. It’s always good to have some room to grow …
From my home to yours,
Mary

Hey Mary! Its been a while. I love reading your blog. Your house is so neat and organized. However I am kind of discouraged with my house. I have done numerous declutter challenges and years later it seems to have returned and there is still so much mess! I have 4 kids like you and i am worn out! I don’t know if I have the energy to do it again. I want to try again to purge and organize. I feel overwhelmed. My dream one day is for my house to look like yours! I guess i just need some practical advice or encouragement. I am not even sure where to start.

Don’t be discouraged. You’ll get there. It takes a lot of time to change habits and overhaul our homes. Focus on what would mean the most to you – what room would mean the most to you, and maybe that’s your pantry. Then, work on that space until you get it there. It isn’t a race, just keep working towards your goal!

Ok. Thanks Mary!

How do you find the right basket size? My pantry in not big and the shelf over the toilet isnāt either. I feel I find too big or too small.
Mary says
Measure the places you need containers before you go to the store, be sure to write the dimensions down. Take the measuring tape to the stores you’ll look at and find the basket that fits the best. I look at Target, Walmart, Amazon, and even Lowe’s and Home Depot. I get nervous finding baskets I like from TJ Maxx or Homegoods, because I can’t always find as many as I need and they may not be there when I go back. I look everywhere until I find what I like best. Since my years as a professional organizer, I will say that I have kind of figured out where I find which kind of baskets I like.
